Week 5 Group 1 Task: Analyzing the Survey Data


Dear students,

This task will be completed by:

You are going to do the following tasks:

  • Download this file that includes all the survey data you are going to work on.
  • Convert the survey data into Pie or Column Charts using Excel.
  • To know how to convert data into charts using Excel, please follow the steps in this post.
  • Explain what you can see in these charts.You can see the comment I wrote below as an example.
  • Before starting your task, choose the level (Excellent, Very Good, Good, or Needs Improvement) that you want to get at the end.

  1. Here is an example to follow:

    I the chart below, you can see that 60% of teens prefer Facebook as a way to communicate. The next tool they use is their Mobile Phone with 26%. Most of them also say that they use it for chatting with their friends on Facebook. Other tools that they use are Twitter (4%), YouTube (4%), Skype (3%), and Yahoo Messenger (1%). The surprising result is that they never use E-mail to communicate with each other. 1% of the teens use What’s Up as a new tool to send messages to each other. 1% of them never use any electronic tools. They think that they don’t need to be connected to others via online tools.

    I just want to tell you that we work together to create these charts and try to explain them. We used Excel 10 to create these Pie and Column charts. We also used Windows Paint to save them and add some explanations.

    Your work is so wonderful. Your charts are very well-prepared and the colors are very attractive. You used two kinds of charts: pie and columns. That’s great! Your explanations are very good, too. But, thee are some mistakes in grammar. I know you will avoid them in the next week.
